Postal worker dies after crashing truck into East County Market

SAN DIEGO, CA –  A 50-year-old U.S. Postal Service worker was killed when he crashed his truck into a San Diego County Market while suffering a medical emergency on Tuesday. The accident occurred at around 11:00 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol,  the man struck an unoccupied vehicle and then crashed the truck through the storefront of a liquor and grocery store in the 9500 block of Jamacha Boulevard in La Presa. Emergency crews worked for more than ten minutes to remove the driver from the wreckage. The as-yet-unidentified driver was taken to Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the nature of the medical emergency.

A patron in the store also suffered a “moderately serious injury to the lower leg” in the government vehicle crash and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, according to the Times of San Diego report.
