SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A pregnant woman was hospitalized Saturday evening after a small plane crash-landed on a San Marcos roadway and hit her SUV, reports NBC San Diego.
The impact occurred on South Rancho Santa Fe Road at the intersection with Boulderidge Drive, shortly before 6:30 p.m.
According to authorities, the events unfolded when the pilot of a small single-engine, fixed wing plane made an emergency landing. The plane was seen quickly descending over South Rancho Santa Fe Road at Melrose Drive, where it clipped a metal sign as it landed in the intersection near northbound vehicles stopped at a red light.
The plane then continued running up the road until it its pilot-side wing collided with the SUV.
The pregnant victim, who was driving the SUV at the time, suffered undisclosed injuries. She was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital where she remains as of Monday.
Officials with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said two passengers on the plane were also injured. No further details have been shared regarding the extent of their injuries.
