Publish Date: 2022/08/18

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 37-year-old man was injured Wednesday when he collided with a pickup truck while riding a scooter in San Diego’s University Heights area, reports ABC 10 News.

The crash happened in the 1900 block of Madison Avenue, near Florida Street, at around 4:55 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was riding a motorized scooter westbound on the road at the same time a 57-year-old man driving a Ram 350 pickup truck in the same direction. At one point, the driver made a right turn into the west valley in the 4600 block of Florida Street.

Officials said the driver turned in the path of the scooter ride, causing the scooter to hit the truck’s right front-quarter panel.

The rider was transported to a local hospital with an open compound fracture to his wrist.

No injuries to the driver were reported.

An investigation was being handled by the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division.
