Teen driver dies after crashing into tree in Carmel Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 17-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident in north San Diego’s Carmel Valley area, according to ABC 10 News.

San Diego Police Department said officers responded to the scene in the 12900 block of Carmel Canyon Road at around 3:15 p.m.

An early investigation shows the teen was driving a silver Lexus RX utility vehicle when he made an unsafe maneuver toward the right of the roadway. He then hit a curb and a tree on the street’s east side.

The victim died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed authorities.

No other occupants were inside the vehicle at the time, and no other vehicles ere involved.

Officials have not released further details at this time, but an investigation by the SDPD’s Traffic Division was underway.
