Three People Seriously Injured in Camp Pendleton Car Crash

Two men and a woman were seriously injured and hospitalized after their car crashed at the end of a high-speed car chase as they tried to flee California Highway Patrol officers. The three people were racing their car northbound on Interstate 5 through Camp Pendleton in the early morning of June 14‚ 2009. The CHP officer originally tried to pull over the vehicle near Las Pulgas Road when they pulled away at speed greater than 100 mph. An Orange County Sheriff’s officer also spotted the racing vehicle as he was commuting to work from Oceanside. As the driver of the car approached the US Border Patrol station near San Clemente‚ the vehicle lost control and crashed into the foundation of the checkpoint’s awning.
