Two hurt in golf cart crash in San Diego’s University Heights

Publish Date: 2021/08/16

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two men were hospitalized Sunday after a golf cart joy ride ended with one man suffering a brain bleed in the University Heights area of north San Diego, according to Times of San Diego.

The incident took place near the intersection of Adams Avenue and Florida Street at around 11:00 a.m.

Witnesses said three men were in a golf cart traveling erratically at high speed when its driver lost control of the vehicle, causing one passenger to eject from the cart and strike his head on the roadway.

Shortly after the crash, the driver and another male passenger fled the scene on foot.

Nearby onlookers were able to follow and detain the driver until police arrived. The third man appeared to have gotten away and has not been located.

The driver and the head injury victim were both transported to a nearby hospital.

Authorities say the driver of the possibly stolen golf cart is suspected of DUI.

No other details have been provided at this time.
