Two injured after crash at residence in northeast San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon after a car accelerated into an apartment building near the Teralta East neighborhood in northeast San Diego, according to ABC10 News San Diego.

Police said the incident occurred in the 4200 block of Highland Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Little information has been shared on what led up to the crash, but the property manager of the building said the vehicle ended up in the living room of a unit occupied by an elderly woman. A neighbor who lives above the impacted unit said the crash caused a TV or a wardrobe to fall on the woman, breaking her arm.

The causing driver and the woman were both transported to a hospital with what was reported as minor injuries.

A San Diego Gas and Electric spokesperson said a gas crew confirmed no leaks or outages have resulted from the accident, but the unit’s gas had been turned off as a protective measure.
