Two injured when suspected DUI driver hit truck in Escondido

SAN DIEGO, CA – Two people sustained serious injuries when their vehicle struck a tractor-trailer on Interstate 15 in Escondido on Thursday morning.

According to NBC News San Diego, the driver of the Ford Fusion struck the rear of a tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes at about 4 a.m.

Both the 32-year-old driver, a Lemon Grove man, and the 32-year-old passenger were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities suspected that the Lemon Grove driver was under the influence of alcohol when the crash happened. They also were looking into whether the vehicle was stolen.

The accident investigation is ongoing.
