Update: 1 dead after crashing into overpass support on I-805 ramp to SR-94

SAN DIEGO, CA – One person died after crashing into an overpass support near I-805 and State Route 94 early this morning, according to information from FOX 5 San Diego.

This is an update to a previous news story.

The crash happened on the freeway ramp from northbound I-805 to SR-94 just after 12 a.m., after the driver of a pickup truck lost control of their vehicle and collided with a guardrail. The vehicle then crashed into a concrete overpass support, resulting in the cab of the truck being crushed.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was trapped within the wreckage for an extended period of time. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities had to cut away portions of the crushed vehicle in order to recover the victim.

No other victims or vehicles were involved in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
