UPDATE: Motorcyclist identified after fatal crash on I-805 in Chula Vista

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 26-year-old man has been identified as the motorcyclist who died last Wednesday after a crash involving a tow truck on Interstate 80 in Chula Vista, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

The accident happened on the northbound lanes of I-805, south of Exit 6 to Telegraph Canyon Road on April 26, at around 6:00 a.m.

Officials with the California Highway Patrol said the man was operating a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle in the HOV lane when a driver in a tow truck made a right turn into the motorcycle’s path. The rider hit his brake and “laid down his motorcycle,” which caused him to slide on the roadway and hit the rear of the truck.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, confirmed authorities.

No injuries to the tow truck driver were reported.

At this time, local agencies have not reported any pending charges.
