Vehicle fire delays traffic on I-15 near Mira Mesa

SAN DIEGO, CA — A vehicle fire Wednesday morning blocked two right lanes and a right shoulder on Interstate 15 near the Mira Mesa neighborhood in San Diego, according to California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred on the northbound lanes of the interstate approaching Mira Mesa Boulevard. It was first reported by CHP at 9:51 p.m.

It is unclear what led up to the fire, but a Ford F-150 pickup truck was said to be fully engulfed in flames on the right hand shoulder.

Two fire trucks responded to the scene, where a male driver was said to have evacuated from the truck.

The crash report indicates a male pedestrian was acting erratically on the shoulder of the same area about two hours prior to the event. It is unclear whether this pedestrian is the driver of the pickup truck.

No further details have been released.
