Woman hurt as car slams into Otay Mesa residence

SAN DIEGO, CA — A woman was sent to a hospital Monday morning after her vehicle crashed into a home in San Diego’s Otay Mesa neighborhood, reports ABC10 News.

The incident took place in the 3800 block of Palm Avenue at around 10:45 a.m.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the woman was driving a sedan when she lost control of the vehicle while turning onto Palm Avenue from the northbound lanes of Piccard Avenue. Moments later, the sedan crashed into a nearby house, coming to rest almost completely inside the structure.

The female driver, who suffered minor, superficial injuries, was transported to a local hospital.

Authorities said the home was unoccupied at the time of the crash and no other injuries were reported, but the crash severed the property’s gas and electrical lines, displacing the residents until repairs can be made.

It remains unclear what caused the accident. No charges have been reported at this time.
