Young child hit, killed by car in east Chula Vista parking lot

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 3-year-old boy died Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle near a shopping plaza in east Chula Vista, according to ABC10 News.

The fatal incident was reported in the parking lot in front of 891 Showroom Place. Chula Vista Police said officers responded to the scene after receiving a call shortly before 6:30 p.m.

It was unclear what led up to the event, but preliminary details indicate the 36-year-old driver who was involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The young boy was rushed to Rady Children’s Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, confirmed the CVPD.

Authorities said they do not suspect drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the crash. No charges have been reported as of this writing.
