Man charged after double-fatal hit-and-run in Bay Terraces

Publish Date: 2023/05/15

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two women died early Sunday after a two-vehicle crash in San Diego’s Bay Terraces neighborhood, reports ABC10 News.

The fatal collision occurred in the 6100 block of Paradise Valley Road at around 2:26 a.m.

According to San Diego Police, a 53-year-old man was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound on the road. At one point, the pickup collided with a Honda Civic that was turning left from westbound Paradise Valley Road onto southbound Munda Road.

At least three occupants in the Honda were rushed to a local hospital, where two passengers, women aged 23 and 25, were pronounced deceased. Officials said the Honda driver, a 22-year-old woman, was being treated for serious injuries, but no updates on her condition have been shared. Her third passenger, a 25-year-old man, also sustained undisclosed injuries.

The pickup driver, who fled the scene following the crash, turned himself in hours later. He was booked into San Diego County Jail and faces a charge of “felony hit-and-run and two counts of vehicular manslaughter.”

The SDPD continues to investigate.
