Medics called after hit-and-run on SR-15 near Kensington

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two vehicles overturned in a pair of crashes involving a hit-and-run driver on State Route 15 near San Diego’s Kensington area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The events unfolded on the northbound side of SR-15, just south of Exit 6A to Adams Avenue. Dispatchers first received the call shortly before 3:00 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate a woman was driving a maroon Infiniti that collided with a silver Mercedes. After driving away from the scene, the Infiniti was involved in a second crash that caused two other vehicles to overturn.

Witnesses said the Infiniti was traveling recklessly before the crashes. It was unclear whether its driver remained at the scene of the second crash, but the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page indicates she may have been injured.

The CHP has not confirmed the number of people hurt at this time, but an ambulance was requested at the scene.

By 3:07 p.m., as many as three southbound lanes were also blocked in the area, causing a growing traffic backup.
