Motorcyclist hit by car on I-805 SB in North Park

SAN DIEGO, CA — Medics were called Friday afternoon after a motorcyclist was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 805 in San Diego’s North Park area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of I-805 north of Adams Avenue. It was first reported to the CHP at 4:10 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate a driver in a white Ford Focus struck the motorcyclist while attempting to make a lane change.

Following the crash, the rider was reported to be lying on the ground in the center lane next to his motorcycle. The Focus came to rest in the center divider.

At 4:15 p.m., all southbound lanes just north of Adams Avenue were reported blocked. By 4:22 p.m., the scene had been moved to the shoulder, though the transition road and half of lane 2 remained closed as a fire engine responded to the area.

At this time, officials have not disclosed the severity of the rider’s injuries.
