Motorcyclist killed in crash at Loma Portal intersection

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man died Saturday morning following a motorcycle crash in the Loma Portal neighborhood of San Diego, according to ABC10 News.

The fatal wreck occurred in the 2700 block of Chatsworth Boulevard, near Clove Street, just east of Plumosa Park. First responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after 6:00 a.m.

A preliminary investigation by San Diego Police shows the man, believed to be in his mid-20s, was operating a 2007 purple and black Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound. As the motorcyclist approached the intersection with Clove Street, he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. After entering and crossing the eastbound side of the road, the motorcycle struck a curb, causing the rider to eject.

The victim, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck, succumbed to injuries suffered in the crash, confirmed officials. His identity has not been disclosed at this time.

It’s unclear whether DUI contributed to the crash, but an investigation by the SDPD’s Traffic Division remains in progress.
