Publish Date: 2023/07/20

SAN DIEGO, CA — One person died Wednesday night after a high-speed crash involving a three-wheeled motorcycle in San Diego’s East Village neighborhood, reports ABC10 News.

San Diego Police said the fatal accident occurred in the 300 block of 16th Street. Officers were called to the scene at around 10:54 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that a 32-year-old man was operating a 2021 Polaris Slingshot southbound at a high rate of speed when it veered into a ditch. The Polaris lost control and then collided with a 2019 Honda Civic and a 1998 Toyota Camry that were parked in the area.

The passenger of the Polaris, whose identity remains undisclosed at this time, was pronounced deceased.

Authorities said the driver of the three-wheeled motorcycle suffered multiple internal injuries that include pelvic area bleeding.

An investigation by the SDPD’s Traffic Division remains ongoing. No pending charges have been reported as of this writing.
