UPDATE: Authorities ID man who died after multi-injury crash in Rancho San Diego

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — An 84-year-old El Cajon man has been identified as the passenger who was killed Friday, July 7, as a result of a suspected DUI crash in Rancho San Diego, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

The California Highway Patrol said the fatal wreck occurred at the corner of Cuyamaca College Drive West and Jamacha Road (State Route 54). It was first reported at about 4:35 p.m.

Preliminary details show the victim, Zohair Potros, along with his wife, was a passenger in a black Nissan sedan being driven by his son. At one point, when the Nissan began turning left into a shopping center, it was hit by a black Honda sedan heading eastbound on Jamacha Road. Authorities said the Honda also struck a white Tesla sedan that had been turning left at the intersection.

Potros was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.

The Nissan’s male driver and front-seat passenger were transported to a local hospital with unspecified and serious injuries, respectively.

The driver of the Honda Civic to the hospital also suffered serious injuries, and the driver of the Tesla reported minor injuries.

An earlier FOX 5 San Diego report indicates the driver of the Honda Civic, who allegedly ran a red light, was suspected of impairment. No pending charges have been confirmed at this time.
