UPDATE: Motorcycle rider dies after hitting car in Fallbrook

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 63-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle and being thrown onto a car in northeast Fallbrook, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

The fatal accident occurred in the eastbound lane of East Mission Road, east of Via Zancas, at about 3:40 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding a red Honda CTX motorcycle eastbound when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the bike. Officials said he was ejected from the bike and into the westbound lanes, where he hit a white Mercedes C250.

Medics rushed the victim to Palomar Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Multiple lanes were blocked in the aftermath of the wreck.

An investigation was underway, but at this time, officials do not believe impairment was a factor.
